Homeland Safety reportedly despatched a whole bunch of subpoenas looking for to unmask anti-ICE accounts
The Division of Homeland Safety has been putting growing stress on tech firms to establish the homeowners of social media accounts that criticize Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), in response to The New York Times.

Now the NYT says an observer that was beforehand used sparingly has changed into more and more frequent in current months, with the division sending a whole bunch of those subpoenas to Google, Reddit, Discord, and Meta. The subpoenas reportedly targeted accounts that didn’t have an actual title connected and either criticized ICE or described the situation of ICE brokers.
Google, Meta, and Reddit have reportedly complied in at least some instances. Echoing previous feedback, Google mentioned that it informs customers of those subpoenas when it can possibly, and that it pushes back when the subpoenas are “overbroad.”
