Afrobeats superstar Davido has opened up about the bond he shares with his longtime aide, Israel DMW, shedding light on the depth of their relationship.
While speaking during a livestream session with popular skit maker Carter Efe, Davido drew a comparison between Carter Efe’s friendship with Kolu and his own connection with Israel. According to the singer, despite public jokes and ridicule, Israel remains one of the closest people in his life.
Davido revealed that many people often laugh at their dynamic, but emphasized that Israel is not just an aide — he is a trusted friend and someone he can lean on emotionally. He described Israel as one of his best friends and a person he can confide in during difficult moments.
Over time, their relationship has grown beyond a typical boss-and-employee arrangement into a genuine friendship. Like most close relationships, theirs has experienced ups and downs, but they have consistently found their way back to each other.
Speculation about a rift between the two surfaced in August after Davido unfollowed Israel on Instagram, sparking online conversations. However, Israel quickly dismissed the rumors by sharing photos from Canada, where he was present for Davido’s tour. He also celebrated Davido’s marriage to Chioma and hinted at plans to shut down Miami for several days in celebration.
Davido further confirmed that there was no bad blood by gifting Israel a Rolex watch, a gesture that reinforced their renewed closeness.
It will be recalled that earlier in July, reports claimed that Davido’s management and family had temporarily restricted Israel from joining the singer on his Five tour, allegedly due to behavioral issues that caused distractions. Despite the controversies, the two have clearly maintained their strong personal connection.
